About the event
Registration is open: Women's Camp
Here it is, the info you have been waiting for!! Â Â Women's Sail Camp is August 18-19. Â Â Â This camp is the basics. Â If you just want to know if you might want to learn to sail or just get some experience on a boat with mentors, this camp is for you! Â There is also fun learning games and prizes, instruction on land!
Skippers and their Assistants attend at no charge. Â If you are a VISA member and wish to be a Skipper or Skipper Assistant, please email dawninganew2@aol.com ASAP and let us know if you wish to be a Skipper or Assistant, whether you will be on a club boat or your boat and how many campers you could take with you.
If you plan to complete an Application later this month to attend camp, feel free to send an email to Dawninganew2@aol.com so she can add your name to her preparation paperwork, stating whether you are a member or non-member of VISA.
Attendees: Â Dawn Pierce is in charge of Registration. Â This is an event where you gain access to camp by getting your application and camp fees in before we meet our attendee limit. Â We always have a waiting list after we fill our attendee quota, so you will want to mark your calendar to check for the "Apply" button on the following dates: Â For VISA Members registration begins July 22 ($85 per person) and if we still have slots open for Non-VISA Members, your registration begins July 29, 2022 ($110 per person). Â Fees non-refundable after August 12. Â Applying does not guarantee you a slot in camp. Â As always, payment is the date and time used for first-come first-served. Â If your application and payment is timely, you will receive a confirmation message by Dawn Pierce.
We start gathering at VISA Aug 19, 4-6 pm. Some of the boats will be ready to take people out then if weather permits. Â Men will be preparing a wonderful meal for the Ladies as we socialize with new and old friends, sharing a common passion, Sailing! Â We want to thank Bob Delzell for volunteering to head up the dinner.
Feel free to bring a tent and stay the night. Â We have full bathhouse/bathroom facilities, kitchens, refrigerators. Â Camping is $15 a nite, so let Dawn know if you are accessing the campgrounds. Â That fee can be paid on August 19. Â If tenting isn't your thing, Bernard's Landing condominiums are right next door and you can find many Airbnb or VRBO condos for rent. Â We get started Saturday morning usually around 8 or 9 am. Â Camp will end around 4:30 Saturday afternoon. Â
Your family is invited on premises, but all children that come on property must have babysitters provided by you. Â You are welcome to stay over Saturday nite as well and enjoy Sunday at the lake. Â Some of the skippers may be willing to take some folks out Sunday as well, but that is at their discretion and not part of "camp." Â We have a nice beach area to enjoy. Â
Bring a cooler, water and food if staying longer than Saturday afternoon to feed you and/or your family.
